Prayer

Prayer describes the many different ways we experience and join in the the life-giving work of the Holy Spirit. Sometimes we more quietly contemplate the ways God is at work and our own complex feelings; at other times we are led and energised by the Spirit to bring goodness to others. Always, our personal practices of prayer join with those of others who are seeking better ways in the world. These practices of prayer are often spoken of in terms of spirituality, human ways of living in the Spirit of God, patterns that open us to the divine work within us all.

Prayer is about out ongoing relationship with God, others and ourselves. We know God to the extent that the love of God is woven through our thinking, feelings and actions. We know ourselves only as we keep relating to God and others with our sense of ‘self’ always real and yet incomplete. Humility is required.

This is a journey of healing that takes a lifetime, rooted in a growing awareness of God’s Presence and openness to Christ speaking with us, filling us with the Holy Spirit.
