Immersed Resources

In our journey into God’s presence and deeper into the world, various resources can be of help. I have made reference to a number of booklets reflecting on how we may live a life immersed in God. These are available from Church House Bookshop as well as in Kindle format from Amazon.

Andy has copies of a number of books and resources at events and do be in contact for more details.

Pause for Prayer

At All Saints’ Didcot we broadcast a weekly “Pause for Prayer” taking 10 – 15 minutes, based on a short Bible reading, with some informal prayers and silence to allow us to remember our own concerns in the presence of God.

Pause to Contemplate

It is good to take more time in silence, to allow our thoughts to be acknowledged and placed into God’s hands and allow God to be with us and speak to us. There are practices that help us to be silent and those that build on this to open our awareness to the God in whom we are immersed. Some examples of these can be found at: Silence and Contemplation. They build on what some will have discovered through mindfulness techniques.

Guided Meditations

Many find guided meditations helpful in approaching contemplative prayer. These give some prompts but with plenty of silence. During the silence we might repeat a prayer word such as “Jesus”, “peace”, “grace” or the Jesus Prayer. One such meditation, based on the ‘I am’ sayings of Jesus in John’s Gospel can be found on YouTube:
